Seismic
Design
Seismic analysis is the derivation of seismic forces that are imposed on building structures by the movement of the ground below. Not all buildings fall into high seismic categories. All buildings require some level of seismic analysis, but special attention to the load derivations and the structural detailing and load path resolution need to be adhered to for buildings in high seismic zones.

We are experienced in designing for masonry, steel, wood and concrete structures. For steel we use AISC 341 specifications outlining design standards for steel in high seismic zones. For overall design we use the ASCE 7-10 code to design seismic force resisting systems.

Tech Structural designed a 9,000 square foot multi story custom home in northern California just outside of Oakland about 50 miles from the Hayward fault line. Design challenges were utilizing connections that could be put together in the field with minimal steel fabrication. We solved these challenges by using modified pre-qualified steel connections.

We're eager to work with you on your high seismic project.
